Description

Redundancy and Alarm Device for LED Obstruction Lights

The redundancy and alarm device supervises the beacons on your structure. It suits operators who must prove that a mast, chimney or tall building was marked without interruption. When an LED fails, the device raises an alarm signal and, on Type A double beacons, switches the secondary LED on immediately.

Benefits

  • Fault reported in time: the alarm output feeds straight into your existing monitoring or SCADA system.
  • Automatic changeover: the secondary LED of a Type A double beacon lights without any site visit when the primary circuit fails.
  • Flexible supply: the unit runs from 48V DC or 230V AC, matching the installation you already have.
  • Simple wiring: the beacon connects through a three-core cable, and the connectors inside the housing are marked for supply, alarm and beacon.
  • Serviceable position: the supply section sits in a plastic enclosure at the base of the structure, within easy reach for maintenance.
  • Compact unit: 180 x 110 x 70 mm and 0.4 kg, so it fits into a crowded equipment cabinet.

Applications and installation

The device belongs in obstruction lighting installations on masts, antennas, chimneys and tall buildings, above all where Type A double beacons are used. Mount the supply section at the base of the structure, inside a sheltered enclosure. Connect the beacon through the three-core cable and route the alarm output to your supervision system or to a local annunciator. The IP65 grey PVC enclosure keeps dust and water out; place it so ambient temperature stays inside the rated -20 to +40 degrees C band.

Frequently asked questions

How is the beacon wired to the device? Through a three-core cable: primary LED positive, secondary LED positive and the common LED negative.

Can I supply it from the mains? Yes. It connects to 230V AC, and a 48V DC version is also available.

What do I get when an LED fails? An alarm signal on the dedicated connector and, on Type A double beacons, automatic changeover to the secondary LED.
