Description

Photocell Switch for LED Obstruction Lights 48V DC

The photocell switch for obstruction lights is an optional accessory for beacon installations. It is aimed at mast and building operators who want their beacons to come on by themselves at dusk. A relay with two contacts switches the supply of the whole beacon group once ambient light falls below the preset threshold.

Benefits

  • No daily intervention: the relay changes state automatically as light levels drop, so nobody has to visit the site.
  • One device, several beacons: a nominal current of 8A and a breaking capacity of 2000VA cover a whole group of fittings.
  • Two separate circuits: the 2 x NC/NO contacts are fully independent, so you can drive beacons and a status signal at once.
  • Matched to the Pulsar range: it works with Type A single, Type A double and Type B beacons supplied at 48V DC.
  • Outdoor mounting: the grey PVC housing carries IP65 protection and is rated from -20 to +40 degrees C.
  • Small and light: 110 x 110 x 70 mm and only 0.2 kg on the bracket.

Applications and installation

Fit the photocell switch into obstruction lighting installations on masts, antennas, buildings and chimneys, on the 48V DC circuit that feeds the beacons. Mount it outdoors, where the sensor reads natural daylight without being dazzled by the beacons or by nearby floodlights. Wire the two NC/NO contacts to the beacon group and, optionally, to a status signal. The IP65 enclosure keeps out blown dust and rain; respect the rated -20 to +40 degrees C ambient band when choosing the position.

Frequently asked questions

Which beacons can it control? Type A single, Type A double and Type B beacons supplied at 48V DC.

What happens at dusk? When light drops below the preset threshold, the relay changes state and energises the beacon group.
