Description

Photovoltaic System for Low Intensity LED Obstruction Lights

The photovoltaic system for LED obstruction lights solves obstacle marking in locations with no electricity supply. It is aimed at operators of telecom masts, poles and isolated structures, where pulling a cable is expensive or impossible. Panel, battery and charge controller form one autonomous source for low intensity beacons.

Benefits

  • Independent of the grid: the beacons run from energy stored in the 12V, 33 Ah battery, so remote sites stay marked.
  • Automatic operation: the charger turns the lamps off during the day and on at night without a separate timer.
  • Maintenance-free battery: the lead-acid unit needs no electrolyte servicing over its life.
  • Adjustable yield: the stainless steel sliding system tilts the panel between 0 and 45 degrees for optimal orientation.
  • Weather protected: battery, charger and control unit sit in a weather-resistant enclosure, and the assembly uses stainless materials.
  • Fits the whole Pulsar range: it powers Type A single, Type A double or Type B beacons.

Applications and installation

The photovoltaic system supports obstruction lighting on structures far from the grid: telecom masts, guyed towers, met masts and temporary structures. Clamp it to a pole beside the beacons, orient the panel towards the sun path and set the tilt between 0 and 45 degrees with the sliding bracket. Autonomy depends on the number and type of beacons, sized at 3 W for each Type A single and 10 W for each Type B unit. The IP65 enclosure resists dust and rain; keep ambient conditions inside the rated -20 to +40 degrees C band.

Frequently asked questions

How many beacons can it power? That depends on their type and on the autonomy you need. Sizing starts from 3 W for each Type A single beacon and 10 W for each Type B beacon.

Do I have to switch the beacons on manually? No. The charger manages battery charging and switches the lamps automatically between day and night.

Which battery is included? A maintenance-free 12V, 33 Ah lead-acid battery, housed in the weather-resistant enclosure.
