Quasar Type A/C Obstruction Light Day-Night 20000 cd
The Quasar Type A/C obstruction light is the complete day and night answer for aviation obstacles above 45 m. It suits operators who want one fitting instead of two: flashing white by day, steady red by night. A built-in twilight sensor makes the change without any external command.
Benefits
- Two beacons in one: the unit keeps the photometric characteristics of Type A by day and Type C by night.
- Automatic changeover: the built-in twilight sensor switches between white and red with no external device.
- ICAO compliant: 20000 cd white and 2000 cd red, both at 3 degrees, to Annex 14, chapter 6, table 6.3.
- 96 OSRAM LEDs: a distributed high-intensity source rather than a single lamp, with 280W total power.
- Robust structure: electrostatically painted extruded aluminium in RAL 1004, polycarbonate optic, IP65 and IK10.
- Fewer mounting points: a single 303 x 240 mm body fixed to a horizontal surface replaces a pair of beacons.

Applications and installation
Fit the Quasar Type A/C obstruction light on aviation obstacles above 45 m: wind turbines, chimneys, masts, tall buildings and large cranes. It clamps to a horizontal surface at the top of the structure and runs from 110-230V AC or 12/24/48V DC. You do not need a separate photocell, since the sensor is integrated. The IP65 housing withstands dust and driven rain on exposed sites; check that the mounting position keeps ambient temperature inside the rated -20 to +40 degrees C band.
Frequently asked questions
How does it change from white to red? The built-in twilight sensor detects falling daylight and switches from flashing white to steady red.
What is the night intensity? 2000 cd at 3 degrees for the red output, against 20000 cd for the white daytime output.
Can I run it on DC? Yes, at 12V, 24V or 48V DC. A 110-230V AC, 50/60Hz version is also available.
