Pulsar Type A Single Obstruction Light Low Intensity

The Pulsar Type A Single obstruction light is a low intensity beacon for aviation obstacles. It serves owners of masts, tall buildings and antennas who carry a marking obligation. One red OSRAM LED with horizontal distribution over 360 degrees gives a stable output that supply voltage swings do not disturb.

Benefits

  • ICAO compliant: output above 10 cd between 2 and 10 degrees covers the low intensity Type A requirement in Annex 14, Volume I.
  • 1.5 W consumption: the beacon can run from a battery or photovoltaic panel where no grid reaches.
  • Universal supply: it accepts 110-230V AC at 50/60Hz as well as 12V, 24V or 48V DC.
  • Wind and impact resistant: IK10 impact protection and IP66 against dust and water.
  • No overheating: the extruded aluminium body dissipates the heat from the LED.
  • Expandable: it can be fitted with a photocell switch, a redundancy and alarm device or a photovoltaic system.

Applications and installation

Fit the Pulsar Type A Single beacon to mark aviation obstacles: telecom masts, chimneys, buildings, antennas and poles. It clamps to a pole of 32 to 65 mm diameter at the top of the structure. Add the photocell switch if you want automatic changeover at dusk. For locations without a grid, combine the beacon with the dedicated photovoltaic system. IP66 protection keeps blown dust and rain out of the optic; plan the installation around the rated ambient band of -20 to +40 degrees C.

Frequently asked questions

What intensity does ICAO ask for a Type A single beacon? A minimum of 10 cd between 2 and 10 degrees, under Annex 14, Volume I. The Pulsar beacon exceeds that threshold.

Can I supply it at 24V DC? Yes. The beacon accepts 12V, 24V and 48V DC as well as 110-230V AC.

How is it mounted? On a pole of 32-65 mm diameter. At 0.9 kg the body puts almost no load on the structure.
